BMW to test Vettel
« on: July 04, 2006, 09:54:47 PM »
Germany's Sebastian Vettel is to have a second test in F1 in Jerez. The BMW protege had a run last year with Williams and will now be seen at the wheel of a BMW Sauber. Vettel is a Red Bull contracted driver but we understand that BMW has the first option on his services in the future and it may be that the team is looking to see if he is a possible candidate for the third drive next season if the team decides to promote Robert Kubica to a race drive alongside Nick Heidfeld. This would mean that Vettel would be in the right place to come in for Heidfeld at the end of his contract if Nick has not done enough to keep BMW happy. Heidfeld's contract is believed to run until the end of 2008.

Vettel is currently racing in the Formula 3 Euroseries and is lying third in the standings behind Paul di Resta and Esteban Guerrieri having won one race so far this year.

After only his 2nd F1 outing, the 19 year old german was only a respectable 1.8 seconds behind the pace setting Mclaren of Pedro de la Rosa on Wednesday at Jerez. Thats not half bad hehe!

How oddly the time changes. More than 7 years ago this was posted, Vettel on his 2nd outing in BMW. As history will tell us he will feature in BMW because of a huge shunt of Kubica is Canada, would gain first point in his outing, score a sensational win in Monza while driving Torro Rosso, being the only one ever achieved by Torro Rosso, and will go onto win 4-times world champion driver.

Wizzo, thanks to you & your continuous effort to keep this site running. Its not a forum, is a treasure of celebration of F1.
Keep running the fast cars, you will be never out of girls
