Swingin' 60's Car
« on: June 09, 2008, 07:53:40 PM »
We had our annual Old Car Festival here in Lancaster over the week-end. I saw a car there that I had never seen in person.

How's this for swingin' 60's: The "Mod Top." A factory option from 1969. A flower-power print vinyl top with matching interior. It came with chrome "MOD TOP" plaques on the rear roof pillars. I think it was offered in three basic colors. Any guess what kind of car this is?

Here's the interior. Please note the stylish, period correct clear plastic seat covers.

Not an AMC product, Dare. Here's a clue: The rear window has more curves than Sophia Loren. ;)

It's a 1969 Plymouth Satellite. These things could be had on Plymouth's 1969 mid-size cars (Belvideres, Satellites, Road Runners and GTX's) and 69 and 70 Barracudas. I thing some Dodge models also had them.
