Aston Martin One-77 to cost £1.2 million!
« on: August 09, 2008, 06:01:18 PM »
Aston Martin has announced that they are to build a new super-exclusive coupe car; it will be codenamed One-77. The new car will launch in late 2009 and comes with a prices tag of £1.2 million.

Those who put their money down to get their hands on the Aston Martin One-77, will get the opportunity to become involved in the design and development process. Owners will have access to the automakers top designers and engineers, their cars will be minutely tailored to their own requirements.

David Richards, Aston chairman has said “It’s a very special car for customers who want to take the bespoke experience to a higher level. Every car will be entirely individual.”

Aston Martin has said that they have identified the “500 or so” people, (501 with me!), likely to be attracted to a car. The automaker will take demonstration cars to them, instead of them having to travel to the showroom.

The Aston Martin One-77 coupe will be made from hand-formed aluminum panels and a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. The engine will be a re-engineered, 7.0-litre version of the current V12, which produces about 650bhp. This should be enough to take the car to over 220mph.

This just shows what a business brain David Richards has.  If he can sell 500 of these he adds £600 million to the top line.

Aston Martin has set up a website for the car:

http://www.one-77.com/

Not much there, but maybe more later.

Since when is a ton and a half been considered light for a sports car.  Gordon Murray would have a fit at a statement like that.
