Bernie may not get his own way with dropping Canada, the teams may have other ideas about it.

I read somewhere (sorry, I didn't pay attention to where) that the reason Canada was dropped was that the promoters owe Bernie (FOM) about $10m.  Since we all know that Bernie will never allow a penny to be taken from his take, he will likely tell the teams that they must pony up the difference themselves if they want the race, if it is transport costs or whatever.

I read that too, Scotty, but I can't recall where.
