German Newspaper says Schumacher will retire
« on: September 07, 2006, 12:37:15 PM »
Michael Schumacher will announce his retirement at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, a German newspaper reported Wednesday.

The seven-time Formula One champion had previously said he'd announce a decision on his future at the race.

"We can't comment on everything. As we said, there will be more on Sunday," Schumacher spokeswoman Sabine Kehm told Bild, which gave no source for its report.

Ferrari will announce their 2007 driver line-up immediately after Sunday's race at Monza, a move which should confirm once and for all whether Schumacher intends to retire.

The issue has dominated the weeks up to the announcement but Schumacher himself is steering clear of that talk.

Oh dear, if it's true I can't think of anyone with enough stature, sense of fair play or personality to take over from him. Bring back Juan Pablo and put him in the Ferrari I say.  ::)

Schumacher is a hard man to replace thats for sure. Despite his critics, he has always been there, battling with the best of them for what seems like an eternity.

Lets hope he stays on and shows these youngsters a thing or two.
