Racing legend Sir Stirling Moss, the patron of next year's GPlive event, celebrated his 77th birthday on September 17, 2006.
Moss dominated motorsport for 15 years, competing in more than 500 races, and brings to GPlive a unique insight into the charm, camaraderie and competitiveness of grand prix racing.
GPlive will be held at Donington Park from May 18-20, 2007, and will combine races and on-track demonstrations from historic cars and drivers who remain motor sport legends.
Moss said: "It'll celebrate the pinnacle of racing achievement and showcase some wonderful old relics – including me!
"I'm sure that the combination of historic, classic, and contemporary Grand Prix machinery will be irresistible to enthusiasts from around the world "Even today, getting behind the wheel of the Maserati 250F is still a pleasure."
"Current Formula 1 cars are brilliant. Boring…but brilliant." said Moss in typically feisty fashion. "They're just amazing in their performance, but nothing like as much fun to drive or watch as the type of car we raced in our era.
"Even today, getting behind the wheel of the Maserati 250F is still a pleasure; it's one of my personal favourites – and if we can have those girls back for the GPlive event………."
