Change of plan for Ferrari
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:26:40 PM »
Ferrari has abandoned plans to test its 2009 car in Portugal next week and will instead head back to its own Mugello circuit in Tuscany.

After shaking down the new F60 at Mugello earlier this week, the Italian squad had planned to take part in the first official, multi-team F1 test of 2009 at Portimao.

But forecasts of light rain in the Algarve on some days of next week were enough to persuade the team to change its plans.

Having already relocated the F60’s track debut to Mugello due to chilly temperatures at Fiorano, Ferrari noted with some exasperation that the latest switch would cause “significant work for the logistics department, moving material and people around Europe”.

With testing set to be banned once the season starts, teams are keener than ever to prevent any precious track time over the winter from being squandered.

I did a weather check for Portimao and got 60% chance of precipitation for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday so Ferrari may being very clever shifting to Mugello.  I wonder if any of the others have Jerez, Barcelona or Valencia on stand by.
