award points - not make new Rules

i had this idea, instead of having a RULE that requires an engine be used for 2 races,or 4 or whatever they decide, why not award a championship point - or a CONSTRUCTOR point, if the engine is used in a 2d race.. and 2 for a 3d race, and 3 for a 5th race!  ... start awarding points like that and the teams will find a way to SAVE money and use the same engine ALL season!

Sounds like a good idea EXCEPT... you'll have backmarkers limping around the track looking for the extra points.  That provides neither spectacle nor safety.

Now, if you were to penalise points as well as grid positions for each engine change, THEN you'll have engines that outlast street cars.
