Wow, pretty confident sounding (and a tad arrogant - watch out). I hope they are right.
From Planet F1:
Brawn GP have warned the rest of the F1 pack that they still have a "little bit in the bag" following their convincing victory at the Australian Grand Prix.
The Brackley-based outfit had a dream debut in Melbourne as Jenson Button, who started the race in pole position, led home a Brawn GP 1-2 at Albert Park.
Button had a 34-second lead over second-placed Sebastian Vettel at one stage of the race, but the gap was cut to a few seconds following the deployment of the Safety Car.
A senior source in the team is quoted in The Guardian as saying: "I think, basically, that if someone is two-tenths off us they can feasibly win the race but, if we're half a second in front, which is probably where we are at the moment, although we don't necessarily look like that, it is just foolish to just annihilate people all the time.
"I think we have a little bit in the bag. We've got good stuff coming and I think we have reason to be confident."
Button and Rubens Barrichello only started testing in March following a management buyout of the former Honda team.
However, the team quickly hit their stride once they were given the green light to race and the source claims everyone at the HQ knew they had the pace to see off their competitors.
"We were looking at everybody else's times asking why were they all so slow," he said. "Our research was telling us we would be the quickest car."
The team's celebrations following their victory in Australia were slightly dampened when it was announced that their workforce will be slashed by almost 300. But things are looking up as Sir Richard Branson's Virgin has already signed up as a sponsor.
The source added: "I think we need a modest amount of investment, we need to make sure our new size is efficient and we need to keep ahead of people," the source added. "We've still got a lot in the bag. The other teams will come back at us very hard over the season, but, long-term, Brawn will be a force in the top three - certainly while these regulations are stable and the budget cap remains."
