I am a bit surprised that No body mentioned about :

Taxi 1/2/3 (the French Version)

Transporter 1/3

Most probably all of the above are Luc Basson Movies..

The Driver (short film endorsed by BMW)

I Like the Tokyo Drift of Fast and Furious, a lot less CG..

I have seen bad and good car movies. ;) My favourite is Cars (by Pixar) because those cars are funny, one of the cars remind of Ferrari and the animation in the series is perfect.

Well gato your timing is perfect. I've just come back from watching Rush at the cinema and here's a resurrected thread about car movies. I haven't seen Pixar's Cars so can't comment on that, but I was more than pleasantly surprised by Rush.

After all the hype and good reviews, I was expecting something rather 'obvious', and to start with I felt the film was a bit lightweight and predictable. In hindsight though I think this was partly a reaction to watching it with my wife Anita, who does not go in for clichéd one-liners and macho sports films. But, she loved it from the start - the tale of two different men, the story of their relationship, and the sound of the cars didn't annoy her for once!

I must say, the film certainly picks up, the last half is pure drama, great entertainment, even if you know the whole story. Highly recommended, great fun.

I too enjoyed Grand Prix but preferred Le Mans. Grand Prix is too staged with all those wooden cameo parts played by drivers at the time. But Rush is in a different league. I can't make comparisons with the documentary Senna - being such a different genre. It's brilliant too.

Go see Rush!

Looking forward to it...but I'll have to wait until I can sneak away to the city.  It is coming here, but dubbed into German only. >:(

They will yell, but as you don't understand German, you can make a sad face, and then they might let you watch it like that  ;)

I can understand German well enough, but can't bring myself to sit through a movie with James Hunt speaking in German.

Maybe they should have gotten Lauda to dub himself in the German version.

Here's a favorite I've been looking for a good print of for a long time. Henri Verneuil's sadly overlooked 1971 film The Burglars. Jean-Paul Belmondo as the burglar in a Fiat 128 & Omar Sharif as a police detective in an Opel Rekord. A great car chase with a twist ending.

I guess saying the entire Fast and Furious collection is too stereotypical, but....meh.

There are few movies that show as much love for cars as the Fast and Furious movies.  There are plenty of movies that feature cars getting trashed, but how many that feature cars being built up and restored (and then trashed)?

And welcome aboard!
