These crazy little boats are tiny sized supertankers that are used to train captains of these boats. 

They realistically mimic the controls and movements of a real oil tanker and can even be disabled by remote control to test the pilots’ ability in an emergency situation on the high seas.

Before you get any ideas about investigating how to buy one of these for your local lake or swimming pool, I’ll save you the hassle- they cost $240,000 each! 

So it’s a serious training tool thats seriously expensive. But it still made me laugh.

You would think they would go for computerised simulators like the airline industry use, much more realistic surely.

Hey maybe it's all a wheeze so the oil magnates and sheiks can have a good chuckle at the training sessions. The oil industry is noted for having more money than sense after all.
