Danica to Stay with Andretti

AutoWeek is reporting that Danica Patrrick will stay with her current ride in the IRL. She said that she received strong interest from Ganassi, but that Michael Andretti convinced her that the team is on the upswing.

On a related note, Andretti Green Racing (AGR) announced that Kim Green and Kevin Savoree will be leaving the race team to concentrate on their race promotion division. It stages the races at Toronto, Ontario & St. Petersburg, Florida. A name change for the team is likely.

Sounds to me that Dixon is staying with Gannasi and
not joining buddy Gil

When they interviewed Chip, he said Dixon was under contract for 2010 period. He wanted Danica but couldn't put together a deal to run a three car team. Personally, I haven't seen much of an upswing at Andretti Green. I suspect that despite all the talk, Danica didn't get any really serious offers elsewhere.

From some of the statements that Patrick has made, It looks like the departure of Green and/or Savoree might have been a major factor in her decision.

Quoting her from Racer.com:

“The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. Every team has its pitfalls and its people that are difficult. I just like some of the changes that are being made in this team, and that's good for me.”
