Anyone have any remarks on the number of dnf's.

Personally I am thinking 6, as Beumi is classified as retired.  But that's just me.

I am personaly affected by this decision as I guessed 5 dnf's, but I am quite happy to go with any consensus decision on this.

However leaving that aside for a moment I think that Buemi was only classified as retired because he had started his last lap before the winner crossed the finishing line and by driving into the pits behind the safety car was shown as not completing the lap, he is shown as 1 lap down the same as, but behind, Lewis with 3 other cars classified after him.

I think they changed the rules so you can't finish a race in the pitlane after the notorious Ferrari Schumi incident when he took a race win, after a penalty drive thru or stop/go, by finishing the race in the pits. The only way I can see to discount this is if Buemi was a lap down before the last lap, but if this was so and he stopped before getting restarted he would be classified as 2 laps down surely?  :DntKnw:

The original interpretation of a dnf in our game, if I remember it right, is a car not running when race ends and so unable to cross the finish line well Buemi drove the car into the pits so it was clearly running at the finish and by reaching the pits one assumes it could have made it to the line.

I have no explanation of why Buemi went to the pits, it could be his car was in trouble, it could be he thought he had to follow the safety car in or it could be he just saw no point in doing another lap as he was outside the points.

Did anybody tell him that he doesn't have to keep following the Safety Car once it turns the lights off?

After thinking it over for  a couple
days I think Buemi was a dnf.

At first I believed it should be 5dnf's
and Buemi finished the race.After
looking over the DNF rule that Ian
posted  and we all agreed to that Buemi
didn't cross the finish line,why I haven't a clue
so I'm sorry to the players who had 5dnf's{Cos,
Andy,John,and myself]and will go with 6dnf's

I'll update the results tomorrow and repeat that I'm
sorry to the people who lost points

After looking again through the DNF Rule that Ian posted I agree that your decision is the right one Dare.  :good:

Thanks for giving up so much of your time organising and stewarding the Grid Game for all of us, just what would we do without you.

I wonder if they will give you Charlie Whiting's job when he retires, you'll certainly be well prepared for it.  :D

I second that, Dare does an amazing job, in sometimes tough and confusing results.  We couldn't ask for a better GG leader.

I think that's a good call, too. Well done, Dare!  :good:
