I'm on the fence with this one.  The lines just look a little 'borrowed' from other supercar designs.  I'm sure if they had Newey still onboard and had asked him for some input, it might have been the revolution that it should be.  The vents look like they could suck in a small dog.
The Honey Badger doesn't give a...

I wonder if the fact that McLaren is building their own engine says anything about the future of the F1 team?

Not sure about the styling on this myself. Not what I would have expected after the F1 and the interior looks awful, lacks the style of the Italians. I'm fairly sure it will be awesome on the road and track though. Can't wait to see the stig take it for a lap.

Agree about the design...a little Gallardo, a little F1 with a side of F430....Jeremy will think its epic though... 8)

In my view the new McLAREN will become a revered classic as they have deliberately given it a 'generic' conservative style to stop polarising opinion and so give it wider appeal, but the technical specifications are cutting edge.

If this is how McLAREN start their sports car lineage just think of what is to come. Not lumbered with a 'long-past-it's prime' car like the PORSCHE 911 and with FERRARI clearly in its sights, I consider we are witnessing the birth of a marque that will join this illustriuos duo and may even surpass them. I hope so as there is always room for excellence.

Already they have a product that clearly belongs in the forefront of third millenium design and a brilliant addition to the legend of Gordon Murray's McLaren F1 Road Car while putting the tacky McLAREN MERCEDES SLR and the even tackier Mercedes-McLaren SLR Stirling Moss behind it.

I look forward to the new MP4-12C spanking the pants of FERRARI and PORSCHE on the racetrack as it is a worthy contender.

Wonder how much they will charge for the new car?

Not sure about that myself. The front, middle and back don't really seem to work together and overall it doesn't look anything special (styling wise).

Maybe this is the design that Stepney got from Ferrari.  ;)
