Police in Florida have been dressing up as festive characters in a bid to crack down on speeding motorists.
Officers in Grinch costumes can be seen standing by the side of speeding black spots, camera in hand and ready to strike.
Motorists are oblivious to the fact that they are being watched by law enforcers and continue driving over the limit, making them easy targets.
The Grinch idea follows on from an initiative by the same force, known as ELF (Enforcing Limits and Fining), which saw officers dressed as Christmas elves.
Both schemes have proved successful, with the Grinch catching 200 speeders and the elf nabbing 150, but some motorists think it's unfair to use Christmas characters to enforce the law.
"That's specifically why we didn't use Santa Claus," Ken Wyne of the Orange County Sheriff's Office told Local Six.
"We didn't choose a nativity scene. We chose an elf. An elf is known for their impish behaviour.
"If you're going to speed in Orange County, you never know who's going to be on the street corner," he warned.
