Title: Haas Looses Title Sponsor
Post by: cosworth151 on July 11, 2019, 04:30:28 PM
Rich Energy has pulled its sponsorship of Haas, citing poor performance.

A tweet from Rich Energy announcing the split read, “We aim to beat Red Bull and being behind Williams in Austria is unacceptable.

“The politics and PC attitude in F1 is also inhibiting our business. We wish the team well.”

The embattled drinks maker recently lost a copyright infringement case filed by Whyte Bikes, a U.K. bicycle builder.

This is only half of the story (or should I say, Storey).  Shareholders of Rich Energy are trying to maintain the relationship with Haas and are in the process of legally trying to remove 'an individual' who may or may not have an enormous amount of facial hair.

That's a relief! I wondered why there was nothing about it on the team site. Thanks, Luke.  :good:

Not true! I didn't have a dang thing to do with it!  ;)

Guenther Steiner doesn't sound worried:

“They are still our sponsor, and I cannot go into the commercial agreement. I signed up for that, and I have nothing more to comment on that one. I hope that you guys get a better answer from us in the next days and weeks. We are working on that, leave it at that; I cannot say more.”

I wonder if the "someone" will get any more opportunities to be an unreliable witness in court?

Edit: I can confirm the "someone" is not Storey, as the rebuttal from his account is very much in his style (link from The Parc Fermé (https://theparcferme.com/haas-f1-rich-energy-story-gets-even-more-bizarre/)):

Quote
“@rich_energy CEO @_williamstorey has commented “The ludicrous statement by minority shareholders cosy with @redbull & @WhyteBikes is risible. Their attempted palace coup has failed. I control all of the assets of @rich_energy & have support of all key stakeholders” #RichEnergy”

This really is the story that keeps on giving.  Storey last night accused those shareholders of having a failed coup and that he runs the company and owns it's assets.  Therefore, what he says, goes.

General feeling is he tends to post after about 7pm so may have had a drink or two before hand.  And I do not mean of Rich Energy!

Have you ever been seen in the same room at the same time as Mr Storey?   :tease:
