Normally when a team has new owners, they try to differentiate themselves from the previous team. No one would ever confuse a Red Bull for a Stewart or a Jaguar, for example.
However, Renault didn't change the Lotus livery when they took over Enstone. They were more concerned with the team seeing things as a continuation of a successful programme, and I think that Racing Point is doing the same thing. They're not trying to distance themselves from Force India, a very strong 'best of the rest', but build on the success that Force India brought.
No point in changing the team just because there's a new guy signing the pay cheques, so good on Racing Point for focusing on continuity and building instead of pretending they're a brand new team.
I also think the pink is a good choice, very distinctive, which is important when looking for sponsors.

I like the pink, but I would have preferred the livery that was supposedly "leaked" a week or so ago.

As a general rule, owners don't like upsetting sponsors that have colour-selection rights more than necessary. I'm assuming the blue is a concession to the fact the new owners aren't going to need a loan to get to mid-season.
