Title: FIA Calls For Halos on Closed WEC Cars

No, this isn't an April Fools joke.

The FIA (Fools In Authority) is calling for Halos to be attached to LMP1, LMP2 & GTE Pro cars starting in 2019. F1/WEC driver Fernando Alonso asked the obvious question:

"Did anyone tell them the cars have windshields already?" he asked. "A Halo in front of the windshield ... it's ridiculous, no?"

To further complicate the matter, this will fall smack in the middle of their 2018/2019 "Super Season." It looks like they want these gizmos introduced at the 2019 LeMans.

Yup, I think we all saw this coming after the Halo introduction in F1!!!

Wouldn't it be a tiny bit intelligent to streamline it's presence in F1, before throwing it onto other series like a cheap party hat???

Why don't the "powers that be" simply look at all two/four wheel sports and build an steel framework around the entire structure, so that only one third of the tyres touch the tarmac ... result right?  |-(

Would motorcycle halos be covered by the fact that some of them are ridden by "Angels?"  ;)

Not only is that likely to make things more hazardous, but it's also going to completely mess up homologation - especially since such an expensive and unwieldly contraption is unlikely to be sanctioned by other GTE series. It's almost as if the FIA is trying to reduce the number of cars in its premier sportscar series...
