Title: Caterham F1 To Be Auctioned
Post by: cosworth151 on February 05, 2015, 05:21:50 PM
It looks like Caterham will follow HRT & Marussia into the sunset. A statement from the team released on Thursday read:

“Acting for the joint administrators Finbarr O’Connell, Henry Shinners and Anthony Spicer of Smith & Williamson, Wyles Hardy & Co. have been instructed to realize the assets of the Caterham F1 race team.

“A series of online timed auction sales will be held covering the race equipment, engineering facility, F1 memorabilia, IT and communications, office furniture. [There also will be] private treaty sales for the race trailer fleet, the state of the art race simulator, Dell HPC super computer and Autoclaves. The first auction will focus on the race support and pit lane equipment, including the 2014 chassis and show cars and is scheduled for early March.”

It is sad that Caterham has not been salvageable (so far - remember Manor got to 5 days before its "auction of doom" before the potential cavalry showed up). They tried hard but got hamstrung by a very badly botched sale plus the prevailing sponsor climate being heavily against them.

It's very disappointing, especially given they were the strongest of the new teams back in 2010 and 2011, and that they did make it to Abu Dhabi last year.  I had hoped that they would be saved, but evidently not.
