Title: AER Says They Have A Customer Engine Ready
Post by: cosworth151 on November 23, 2015, 09:23:35 PM
Advanced Engine Research (AER) claims it has an engine that "fits exactly" the requirements of the FIA's plans for an independent supplier to Formula 1 for 2017.

AER managing director and co-onwer Mike Lancaster said, "We have spent a good many years developing a specific GDi V6 engine, and it was put together for high levels of modern motorsport, with the emphasis on lower brake-specific fuel consumption. So we've produced an engine that fits into exactly what they are looking for, which is a very powerful, modern, fuel-efficient racing engine.

Of course, this may all be moot if Ferrari uses its veto on the whole idea.

The current F1 engine rules allow an unmodified LMP1 engine to join the series.

Given Jean's homogenising tendencies, it would not surprise me if the "client engine" could be an unmodified LMP2.

What worries me is that AER seems to be depending on the FIA's word that their idea will stick.
