Title: Instead of redundancies from F1 budget cap Mercedes creates Applied Science Dept
Post by: John S on March 06, 2021, 03:14:46 PM
Now we see why INEOS becoming big shareholder at Merc F1 makes sense.

Just as Ferrari have reassigned staff to Alfa & Haas support operations so workers at Brackley can be moved onto Jim Ratcliffe's other favoured sport projects, namely Ocean Yacht and Cycle racing.

Also lessens drain of tech knowledge to competitors who may scoop up let go staff.

I'm glad to see the teams making an effort to look after their employees.

Expanding into other disciplines might bring more prestige/attention to the sport, which is a good thing.

I'm guessing Red Bull also saw honda ducking out as heaven sent to move workers off main team budget into Red Bull Powertrains to stay under cap.
