Title: Tyres for F1 2021 season will definitely be different to 19/20 boots
Post by: John S on January 12, 2021, 09:20:51 PM
Here's confirmation that tyres will be new spec for this season and not carry overs from last year.
So along with the other tech regs changes maybe we'll see some change in the pecking order on F1 grids this year.

On November 1, the FIA approved the Pirelli tyres for the ’21 season, which will have a larger carcass than those previously homologated for the ’19 and ’20 seasons. It’s hoped they will be more efficient at coping with greater mechanical forces and suffer less blistering at lower pressures. Tests were carried out during the last races of the season, and Pirelli chief Mario Isola said he was satisfied that they had achieved their goal.

The teams were not so happy as Pirelli were though and and as for the change in pecking order Mercedes never updated their cars through the second half of the season and admitted they were working on the 2021 car.
We'll find out fairly soon.
