Title: Renault lands new sponsor Hewlett-Packard
Post by: John S on March 11, 2010, 05:06:43 PM

The marketing people have been working overtime at Renault since the mass exodus of sponsors following the crashgate saga. I'm not quite sure how the HP blue logos are going to look on the Yellow and Black car though?

Renault has today announced a new two-year sponsorship deal with computer giant Hewlett-Packard, which will see the firm's distinctive HP logo appear prominently on the engine cover of the R30 throughout 2010, starting from this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix. The news of HP's arrival at Renault comes soon after deals with Lada and MOV'IT, with the California-based company making its return to F1 sponsorship after four years away.

HP last sponsored a Formula One team in 2005, when it was a major contributor to Williams. Today's deal will help Renault by developing more powerful digital simulation technologies and by giving them access to other tools such as high-definition videoconferencing systems. HP will also work with the team to reduce its carbon footprint through the use of 'green' data centres, and 90% recyclable, low-energy-consumption workstations.

It is a big coup for them though.  They are working well to make up for lost sponsors!

I'm watching practice right now. I see the HP logo is already on Renault's shark fin.

HP inherited their sponsorship of Williams. Williams had a multi-year contract with Compaq, and HP bought Compaq.
