Title: Max had wrong torque mode on Red Bull for 2nd half of Monaco F1 GP
Post by: John S on May 29, 2019, 12:30:09 PM
I'm not sure whether Max is a Hero or Zero over this, he should have made the mode switch in the pitlane but contact with Bottas distracted him.

Hero:- he managed to push hard on Lewis' tail for nearly all of the race even with the torque mode limiting things.  :good:

Zero: - at the very top level you have to get the right stuff done whether controlling car or managing settings, even under extremly challenging conditions.  |-(

What's your view?

Both. 100% both.

Torque mode is a difficult thing to fight, and he fought it brilliantly, but there was plenty of time for him to set it properly in the window everyone is allowed, and everyone else got it right.

According to Max, it makes the power come on with a bang, like the old turbos used to do.

So Lewis win may not be as spectacular as we have been led to suppose if both competitors had their problems.  ;)

No make that 3 drivers nursing problems, Vettel had brake and overheating issues.  :D

Much like it used to be, when the key to winning a race was often being able to make the car hold together long enough to finish.  :good:

Formula One 2019 - even unreliable cars are completely reliable.
