I like it

-
I like it, too. I see it still has a bit of a shark fin.
-
It looks very ugly to me. I dislike the recent trend of adding fins and other bits and pieces to engine covers. The FIA banned such additions the last time that it got out of hand. I think that they need to do so again.
-
I think most of the reveal is about the livery, since the car that shows up on the grid tends to be quite different with regard to fins and flicks.
I've always liked the Martini livery more than anything Williams has done in the past decade.
-
Would I be biased in saying it is my favourite car on the grid?

Probably

Ah well :good:
-
Lowe has come out today pretty much saying the car has fairly big issues with stability in the corners. Not good at all.
-
Yeah, he's not the guy you want to have complaining about the car. ::)
-
I might change my name to RedBullfan for 2018 at this rate :o

I've always had a soft spot for Williams (Mansell/Hill/Coulthard era until present), but I fear they may have another tough season ahead of them and may fall mid grid or worse on most race weekends.
The question is, will Stroll attempt to cement the No.1 Driver status, or will Sirotkin dominate proceedings, once he has a few race outings under his belt?
All the best,
Cal :)

So basicly just like last year, the year before that and the one before that then. :DD

So long as Sirotkin is in the seat and politics don't take over, I see him beating Stroll pretty comfortably very early on in the season. I am just not sure (sadly as a fan of the team) that Stroll will progress enough this season.

I totally agree! ... I may have mentioned elsewhere (if not on this forum?) ... that I can quickly see Sirotkin becoming the No.1 driver at Williams. Stroll may improve to some degree, but he doesn't have that typical F1 killer instinct and Sirotkin may outperform him on a regular basis in the season ahead.
All the best,
Cal :)

I'm not so sure Sirotkin will get the better of Stroll. Lance was put in F1 by his Father too early sure, however he did show flashes of top driving last season. This season he will be better prepared both in his mind and physically, I'm putting my money on Stroll outscoring Sergei this term.
-
In almost any sport that matters (Hockey, Skiing and Curling), us Canadians tend to beat the Russians, so why not F1
-
I am by no means a Stroll basher (sounds more polite than a Lance basher) and thought he has a decent rookie season. I just get this kind of 'Rosberg' vibe from Sirotkin. But I am notoriously rubbish when it comes to predicting how Williams will do.
-
Hmm, yes "Lance Basher" sounds like a Medical malpractice case to me! lol
Seriously though, it's boils down to "Have Williams got it right or disastrously wrong in 2018?". You can tell the Stroll fans when you hear comments on how little he was behind the experienced Massa, but on the flip side, Massa was standing on the retirement line, so Stroll "should" be significantly faster as the "talented rookie" ... regardless of the current performance of the car, agree?
I feel that Sirotkin may have a shaky start to the season, but over a season, I expect him to do better than Stroll in his first season - and as I have mentioned before, would not be surprised if Sergey become the No.1 driver at Williams.
All the best,
Cal :)

Not sounding good at all from this article:

I was expecting Williams' start to be shaky.
I was not expecting it to stand or fall on a hamburger wrapper...
-
Worrying times for Williams!
I hope Stroll doesn't become outspoken like Villeneuve? ... as the fragile balance between Lance & Sergey as the two rookies in the race seats could leave Williams wondering "WHAT DID WE DO???" ... mind you, Kubica is ready, should Williams realize that their season is falling apart by the summer break!?!?
All the best,
Cal :)
-

But of course Stroll is financially invested in Williams, so he may have that right to criticise the management of his Dad's cash. JV was just arrogant and a whiner.
-
It is tricky regarding how far Stroll can push. Of course, in one sense he is a customer, buying a service from Williams, but if I remember it correctly, Williams hold the cards regarding his contract so maybe he cannot push too far as there are not an abundance of teams now that need a still unproven driver, even with his vast cash supply.
Still, the weekend was a disaster and it now seems likely that the races to come are going to be equally as painful. The sandwich bag incident for Sirotkin, what are the odds of that?

About the same as 2 Haas cars having badly fitted wheels I reckon. ;)

Tin foil would make a better sandwich wrapping...

2- Clingfilm for sarnies

Sorry Luke I mixed up your list with my own. :fool:
When you've walked Silverstone, Donnington and Snetterton perimeters trying to find the best place to view motor racing from you'll probably add 3 to your list. :D

Now, I actually wish I had walked around those tracks looking for a good view. Silverstone I was able to stroll straight on into with my ticket and the only time I've done Donington was for the Download Festival. Still, I did make sure I took a pilgrimage to some of the famous parts of the track whilst others were busy with random (and often bad) bands.

In this case, "better" means "less likely to fly off the sandwich and into anyone's radiator" ;)

I guess then we would not have the curious problem of a melted bag!
:DD

Car designer Ed Wood has left the team due to 'Personal Reasons'. Hope everything is okay with him but I am not surprised this has happened, more surprised it didn't happen earlier to be honest given the wholesale changes that have taken place at Williams in recent seasons.
-
Do we now miss the Patrick Head & Pat Symonds days at Grove???
All the best,
Cal :)
-
I'd be happier with the podiums of a couple of years ago under Symonds, but I long for the Championships of the Head years.
-
Add this to the long list of things wrong!

As I was at the Spanish GP it was painful to see how impossible the Williams car is to drive - I think both drivers did well to get the cars to the end....slipping and sliding all over the place right from the off. didn't seem to matter which tyres or what state the tyres were in either. Truly awful to handle.

Is Sergey trying to say that this season's Williams is a pain in the ***?
-
If so, he is saying it quite successfully :)

Dirk de Beer has stepped down as Head of Aerodynamics at Williams, I guess he has fallen on his sword.

Yup! ... the inevitable outcome for any F1 team who used to be "up there" and are now "way down there".
All the best,

They mention that they may have a bug in their simulator software.
There's another thread that discusses using common parts to save money in F1. If each team is creating their own simulation software, that's got to be tremendously expensive, and would probably be a huge advantage to a team that can hire an extra developer to get rid of the bugs that Williams may have.
-
... so, sounds like they have 99 bugs and have uncovered 1 of them!
Desperate days at Williams. Will they even reach the grid in the next few years???
All the best,
Cal :)
