Title: Are FIA finding difficulty attracting interest from new F1 Tyre suppliers?
Post by: John S on August 05, 2018, 12:49:52 PM
Does the latest letter from FIA saying tender “modified for clarification purposes.” indicate little or negative response from tyre companies?

Hard to see many tyre companies excited about supplying big fat tyres on 13" rims for one year then switching to lower profile on 18" wheels for the next two. Surely it will push up R&D costs substantially.

Pirelli has also previously stated it will not take part in a new tender process, although it seems they would be best placed for a low bid - already having the first year product developed- having only the new 18" rim product to work on.
