Rob Smedley will leave Williams at the end of the season. Apparently, he's leaving F1 totally.
"After 20 years in Formula 1, however, I feel it’s the right time to reflect on things and evaluate what the next move is. I’m thoroughly looking forward to spending more time with my family before deciding on future opportunities.”

I wonder if he will move to Venturi in Formula E ;)
-
He has stated that he is staying in F1 and is already looking at options available to him.

I am still unsure if he jumped or if he was pushed, to be honest. Given the number of technical departures this season, I wouldn't be surprised either way.

I wondered that my self. Here in the States, it's a running joke that every political appointee who is told that he "wants to resign" says that they "want to spend more time with the family."

Perhaps it was in line with Jeff Sessions' resignation...
"At your request, I am submitting my resignation."

I thought people went into politics because they don’t want to spend time with their family. ;)

I have a feeling that Rob was gently pushed out of Williams, or simply didn't want to stick around a sinking ship. Either way, he may pop up in Spain, running a local go cart business, while selling Sky Sports TV packages to locals!!! :DD
Seriously though, once he has spent time with his family (3hrs and 41 minutes) ... he may pop up in Formula E in the near future!! (or commentate 'Geordie Style' for Sky F1).
Best Regards,
Cal :)

After "family time" and reflection on how bad things became at Williams, current rumours are now linking Rob with a potential return to Ferrari?
Best Regards,
Cal :)
