For once Wizzo, only for once please let me swear for this great loss. It used to be my favorite pass time while running through the videos, specially the Montage  :fool: :fool: :fool:

Looks like FOM shut them down.

It's a sad day, people.

The time has finally come, after 13 years, for F1archives to bring down the garage door.
It was always a matter of time, and I'm surprised it lasted as long as it has.
I received the cease email this morning, and I'm beginning the process of taking the website down.
I thank you all for the support over the years, and I've enjoyed brining you the content that I have.

Greg.

I received the same cease and desist letter when I fist started this site so I changed the name from F1Wizard to GPWizard which satisfied the lawyers. However they made it very clear that they would monitor the site and that the comments of the owner would be closely scrutinised.

Pardon me, (and F1 Archives), for trying to promote Formula 1.

Crazy!

What is it with these morons ? First the FIA jump on our Wiz over the name for his site(steam hammer to crush a peanut) no offence meant to you Wiz, then the BBC try to deny British tv licence payers the pleasure of motorsport. Now once again the allegedly F1 loving FIA rears it's ugly head again and deny us the chance of watching archive races.

Notice to the FIA, this is my personal opinion and mine alone.

Methinks you should be directing you're justifiable anger at the FOM (Bernie's mob) rather than the FIA (Todt's gang).  ;)

F1 Wizard was probably Bernie's secret nickname, so he took exceptional offence to that one  ;) ;)

Bernie is the Monsanto of F1.  He obviously bought up all the rights he could get his hands on, and spends probably at least as much lawyering up every time someone wants to broadcast something his stamp is on.

Worst part is, he would rather deny us access to things like the videos on the archive site, than simply post them on his own site.  I guess that most of what was on F1Archives is not even available for sale.

How far back does FOM's jurisdiction go?Surely
not to 1950.

They could have bought the rights to everything F1, whether they existed then or not...and don't forget, NOBODY got to see the Mosley-Ecclestone 100 year rights agreement.  Max probably sold Bernie rights that even the FIA didn't own.

I paid for a software data service which would allow members to access details of every race since 1950 including points, lap times, just about everything, it really is a great bit of software.

Guess what? I'm not allowed to publicly use any race data.  :DntKnw:

Formula One Administration Limited (“FOA”) has the exclusive right to commercially exploit the FIA Formula One World Championship (“the Championship”) including, but not limited to, all moving images, other audio/video content, timing data and results.

This reminds me of a time when a fan took a picture of a teams car, (I won't name which team), driving around a track and he put it on his website. The team asked him to remove the picture but he refused stating that it was his picture and he owned it. The team's lawyers successfully forced him to remove it after they proved that they had copyright on the paint and logos on the car and he was in breech of the copyright act.

Now we know how did you manage to get that 26 score of Singapore GP

Every race I formulate the previous race winners, fastest laps, average weather conditions, safety car deployments vs race length of the track, driver qualifying times, grid positions, tyre choice and average positions gained per driver per race. Then I tell all this information to my Super Computer and guess what she says?.....

'Do you want chips or mash with that?'

Oh Mrs Wiz! What would I do without her?  :D

By Advent general people understand "a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Christmas"

And by Wizzo's standard "ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE" For this time of the year (I insist only this time of the year only) Wizzo puts on something like the film "The Mask" and good lord gracious what we the poor people of GPW have to endure for a period of month. Last year was my first time  :fool: :fool:
Yeah Cossie, Ian, Dare & Scotty did warn me, but no word is enough to make yourself prepare for that.
