Very nice
-
I like it...classy (and a hint of retro for those who remember JPS).
Nice start from Haas to the unveils. :good:
-
I am liking that, nice one :good:
Hopefully Grosjean can keep his in one piece hehe
-
I really like it! :yahoo: It's especially good to see some revenue generating names on it.
I'll still be wearing my grey & red gear, though.
-
OH NO! It reminds me more of the Genii Lotus in black than JPS.
….and we know what 'wrecker Romain' got up to in that. ;)
-
On the right sidepod of the car there is a grey rendering of the American flag, but it's backwards, with the blue canton on the left instead of the right. I see this from time to time.
Can our American friends (or anyone 'into' flags) explain why the American flag is sometimes presented backwards?
PS, the car looks nice, hopefully it's distinctive on the grid
-
Looking less and less like JPS when viewed from side and rear wing.

Don't remind me of that moment John, my heart sunk. Two inches to the left and it would have took my Baby cakes head off in Spa 😭 I would have been heartbroken forever 💔 I can't ever watch that crash again. 😞

Here's the official release:

I do not know, it just does not do a whole lot for me. Black and gold ought to be 'wow :yahoo: :yahoo:' but I feel more 'meh'. It is nice, but only nice.
Monday is when my juices will start flowing!

I hope you are not at work on Monday Luke.....not in a church, not with those thoughts ;) :DD

Funnily enough, before I even knew about the livery/partner launch on Monday, I had booked it as a day off. Desperately trying to use up the best part of 2 weeks' worth of time off in lieu owed to me before April when it all gets reset and lost.

That's a lucky escape, saves you visiting the Priest for confession hehe :swoon:

I am fortunate that the Dean is also a big fan of F1. Imagine standing at the West Front talking to the Dean about being in Monza with the Tifosi. That conversation actually did happen.
-
Yes indeed, a combination of Lotus/JPS ... as this was rumoured to be the new look for some weeks now. I personally really like it. Well balanced, complimentary paint job - alas, I now have to dig out my paint tin before the 18th Feb ... thanks HAAS!!! |-(
Best Regards,
Cal :)

Why am I missing the greatness here? It needed more gold, more razzle-dazzle. On track I think it will look lost and the glossy finish will hide the logos.

This tell's why on planes and the shuttle. Maybe Haas applied it
to cars.

That applies to anything that moves. Cars, boats, planes, people....
We've always had a laugh at the closing part of Goldfinger where the U.S. Air Force Lockheed JetStar has the flag on the tail the wrong way.
-
It looks more like the black livery that AGS used to use in the late 1980s and 1990 and that team wasn't exactly at the front of the grid. I like the idea of Haas going for a different livery, assuming that the team sticks with it, but I don't see the wow factor here.
-
I do like the tires (tyres for those of you across the pond) on the side view of the car. The front is set so that Pirelli is straight across the top and the rear one has P Zero the same way. The white even looks a bit silver.
-
I'm across the pond and still say "Tyres" ... "Crisps" ... "Chips" etc. :DD
The more I look at the media shots of the new HAAS paint job, I really do like it and hope it reached the track on race day, looking just as good as the launch shots!!
Best Regards,
Cal :)

It's nice to see ZZ Top get involved in the 2019 project.

.. of course, I am referring to the Sharp Dressed Man on the Left.
Best Regards,
Cal :)
-
Surely Calman you mean Z top, there's only one of em. :D
-
.. the other Z is just outside the photo. I guess he didn't have the Legs and was wearing Cheap Sunglasses at the time, so he wouldn't Give it Up and join the photo op.
Best Regards,
Cal :)

Is it just me, or did this "wishy-washy" presentation seem like amateur hour??? ... especially 10 minutes, 30 seconds onwards *rolls eyes* ...
https://youtu.be/PGrBWoMqpVI
HAAS, next time, get Rowan Atkinson to do the honours, would be 1,000 times more professional/efficient.
Best Regards,
Cal :)

It was a bit of a slow burner but we got there.
I didn't like the way she described the car as looking dangerous....That mixed with Grosjean could be very dangerous. I am glad my Fernando is safely away from Grosjean in another black and gold missile.
-
The HAAS guys (team personnel and drivers) handled themselves very professionally, but her presentation was, well, for want of a better term "pants". The whole mix up over unveiling the car from the front or back and the uncomfortable lead up and interview with Kev, well, it was painful!!!!!! (make mental note not to present K-Mag with the term "A Vengeance"). :DntKnw:
It felt like someone threw her into the middle of a club dancefloor and the only track she knew was "The Birdie Song".
Best Regards,
Cal :)

I guess that part of the proceedings could have been worse. For instance, when Martin Brundle asked Chase Carey what he thought of the F1 cars on the grid .... his answer "Very Loud!".
Best Regards,
Cal :)

Ohhh.....cringey unveil. I particularly liked the "huge round of applause" from the audience of about 15 people! Cars good, reveal was underwhelming.
-
Apparently, and unsurprisingly, in the 'renders' of the 2019 car that were released before the launch event (oops) you can see that Haas will be using the 2018 Ferrari 'style' triple stacked exhaust pipes.
-
Should have copied the black Minardi with the red trim.

That's pretty cool. I can respect a flag code that gives a sense of speed!
-
Hello 2012 Renault! *waves*
Ohhh.....cringey unveil. I particularly liked the "huge round of applause" from the audience of about 15 people! Cars good, reveal was underwhelming.
Were the rest of them thrown out for violating dress code?
-
I liked it! Spend the money on the car, not the reveal. :good:
-

Except they can't agree on a colour scheme, front and top Black/Gold, sides and rear Black and silver...ish. :D
That's what happens when you only collect half the going rate for Williams car sponsorship. :DD :DD
-
It still looks like an AGS to me. Haas will be hoping that it's a lot faster.
-
Hopefully on aerial race footage, the HAAS doesn't appear pure black, as I am not sure how well the Rich Energy and other text, will show along with the gold/bronze mirrors and small touches around the bodywork?
Best Regards,
Cal :)
-
Haas didn't want their car to be a total copy of Lotus, that's why they did the Haas in white.

What ever the reasons or coincidental similarities, I personally think that the black, gold and white work very well and as far as "looks" are concerned, every other team will have to go a long way to have a better looking car (that includes Williams too Luke!! ;) )
Best Regards,
Cal :)
-
I do not know why I am quite so biased, but Williams just needs to launch a car, any car, and it will be my favourite looking car that year :DntKnw: It's bizarre, I know!
Problem for Haas is, simply going with any black and gold is going to make the car look like a replica of the JPS livery. It is not bad by any means, but it could have been 'wow' and I do think it will look lost on track as there is too much black.
-
On a serious note (I know, a rare commodity from my end lately).
I would love to see Williams revert back to the livery of the Prost/Hill era ... that looked "the business" back then. Of course, this is once they sort out their aero and get some more horses in the boiler!!!!
Best Regards,
Cal :)

Most significant thing I take away from that video is Günther’s new hair piece.
-
I know what you mean, Luke. I feel that way about Haas.
Günther had to get a new rug, Scott. The old one flapped in the breeze & the stewards banned it as a movable aero device.
