Title: Styrian Grand Prix
Post by: Monty on July 13, 2020, 04:56:04 PM
Hamilton qualifying in the wet.....wow; I mean WOW!
Then George Russell less than a tenth from Q3  :yahoo:

Qualifying was almost more exciting than the race!

A wet track always shakes up the field and allows those who normally are not up near the front to sometimes gain their only advantage.
It is a great track and the water seemed to drain well off it so no really dangerous spots. Unlike Suzuka where it seems to gather in deep pools on track.
I'm sure the elevation changes helped greatly.
I too enjoyed the quali more than the race.

It was a good weekend. Quali in the wet was wild. Even though Merc ran away with the race, there were several exciting fights for positions that ran right up to the checkers.

The FIA now agree that Stroll should have lost his place to Riciardo after his kamikaze attack on the last lap. I was screaming at the TV that the overtake was impossible and unsafe but nothing was done. Now they say if it happened in future races they would swap places. Good to know there is still some sense in the FIA but not much consolation for Danny!
