Title: Comparing F1 car floors on Red Bull-Mercedes-Ferrari.
Post by: John S on June 27, 2023, 04:57:04 PM
At last someone shows us reasonable mock ups of the leading F1 car floors.  :good:
Wot a lot of channels - oops sorry venturi tunnels, :D  no wonder they get damaged on sausage kerbs, well any kerbs really.

Seems Newey had built in anti jolt/porpoising feature on Red Bull floor, but suspension is still key.

Good find, John S!  :good:

One big difference I notice between the Merc and the other two are what appear to be side air intakes. The Red Bull and Ferrari have them about half way back and the front edge is angled slightly outward from front to back. The W14-B has them much farther back with the intake end angled slightly inward.

I guess this is a result of Merc's "Zero sidepod" design, because of the noticeable indentation on each side right about where the other two have the intakes.

Very good comparison of the floor designs; now I almost sort of understand some of it...
