Watching FP1 on Sky (work is over rated anyway!). Hamilton and Vettel look like they are in a class of their own. They are consistently banging in times considerably quicker than anyone else.
Hamilton is 0.4 ahead of Vettel and Vettel is a further 0.5 ahead of Kimi. Rosberg is close to Kimi but then there is another half second back to Massa.
Button's car has suffered from the same ERS problem and he only got out with 20minutes to go!
-
Looks like Button is in for a troubled season, shame to go out on a low if it is his last season. Pray for rain during qauli, to mix it up a bit and maybe make it a bit more of a race. I just hope it's not a procession.

Hamilton went almost a second faster in FP2 before the rain came. He was fast in the rain as well!
I think it will be a Mercedes benefit unless something happens in qualifying (like your team mate cheating by ruining your fast lap!).
A wet qualifying would certainly be interesting but the forecast for Saturday is good.

All this talk of Jens last season is rubbish IMHO, he's got a two year contract with Macca so he'll be there come Aus GP 2016.
-
It was a very uneventful practice today. I hope that the meeting livens up on Saturday and Sunday. If it rains, it would make things interesting, but apparently the chances of that are receding.
Still, things can always happen at Monaco, so I'm going to be optimistic. Let's hope for a slightly mixed up grid and an evenful race.

This is interesting view for particularly for those who have never been to Monaco. The barriers are in place obviously, but this is what normal traffic looks like, even when there is no race.

Good one J.C, pretty tight eh. :good:
-
Very cool, J.C. REminded me of the one Tiago Monteiro did for the 2006 season dvd. The track is the same.

Some of us oldsters remember that, up until about 10 years ago, most team garages were up in the hills. The drivers drove their cars down to the track every morning & back up every night.

For anyone in the UK, there is a program on BBC 2 this afternoon at 4:10, Formula 1 Rewind. Showing coverage of the Monaco race over the years. Might be worth a look, I'll be recording it to watch later.

Thanks DH1, I'll be recording that for sure. :good:

I guess with the passing of time, we will find out what happened to Massa. It was never discussed during the race in the NBCSports coverage of what happened, other than perhaps we'll get to see a reply, which never came.
Lewis handled the interview fairly well I thought, all things considered.
I am happy for Nico and Vettel though.
Button has to be absolutely elated!

Another F1 procession made a little more
watchable by the big pit stop for Lewis.
Nice to see Ferrari back though I wonder what Kimi's
problem is.Now this is only my personal opinion I
wouldn't be surprised to see Bottas in his seat next year.
I too wonder what happened to Massa?Well on to Canada

Here is what happened to Williams.

Bit of a crazy finish to the race, a wierd decision by Mercedes. The stewards decisions are again a bit inconsistent. A penalty for Along but not for Ricciardo. Great to see Button picking up the first points for Maclaren, a long road ahead but progress none the less.
-
The highlights got through the first 38 laps in 35 minutes (including the entire pre-show!), which said a lot. The only memorable events for me were Verstappen not noticing that Grosjean's car was acting weird (that was understandable given his inexperience, his car doing a tin-opener impression against the wall was not) and Mercedes forgetting how long the Monaco pit lane was.
-
the only possible justification I can see for Merc was the VSC call which changed quickly to SC. Under VSC, the cars would have maintained their intervals. Hamilton would have had enough time for the pit stop.
-
Fairly awful race (as we would expect for Monaco). I was excited to see Button in the points and I wonder where he could have been if Rosberg hadn't ruined his Qualifying. It was a real shame to see the Williams performing so badly and then further compromised by bad luck.
Verstappen and Sainz showed some talent at a difficult track. I agree with other comments that Kimi is really underperforming and I cannot see him retaining his seat. Vettel (hard for me to say) drove brilliantly.
Hamilton's drive was probably the most dominant that I can remember. To drive that fast from lap one wold be good at any track but at Monaco it is nothing short of amazing. He was over 20seconds ahead of Rosberg in the same car on the same strategy! There was clearly only one moral winner and it wasn't Rosberg.
-
Hamilton is faster than Nico, no doubt. If you were watching closely, he got most of his lead by being quicker in traffic than Nico, He has been a dynamic passer since he started in F1. It seems clear the Williams, by accident or design, is not a high down force car, it was bound to be troublesome at Monaco. I think it will return to form in Canada. Kimi has been much happier with this year's Ferrari, but they brought an update package to Barca that did not perform as expected. Kimi immediately began complaining about understeer again. If they can get the car as twitchy as he seems to want, he will produce results.

The biggest smile I got in the race was hearing Kimi on the radio after Ricciardo pitted him just before the tunnel. He said 'Did you see what he did there?? That was not very nice'.
Wizzo, I think I might need a new Kimi quote mug. :DD :DD :DD

My feelings exactly. Those two incidents apart this was so tedious. Monaco is meant to be hard on the cars and the drivers, yet hardly anyone made a mistake, and reliability was way too high. It was a tedious procession, and that was very disappointing.
