I think Rick Mears would have been a outstanding in most any form of racing. Too bad he was after the era when drivers could do that.

I always wondered how Mark Donahue would have
faired in F1 cut short by his death in practice in Austria

I also enjoy the reason he's selling the cars:  seeing them become special to someone else.

I'm sure he's selling them for more cynical reasons and covering with a heartwarming story, but I'll choose to believe he's sentimental.

Always fun to play 'what if'.

If he'd gotten a car/team that suited his style, I'm sure he'd have been an all time great.  If he half assed it like Michael Andretti did with McLaren, I'm sure his career in F1 would have been just as short.

The Indy 500 is like nothing in F1 though, giving up racing that if that's your first love is tough.  A lot of non Americans who race IndyCars race there because they can't/won't race in F1, but for a lot of American drivers, the 500 is the pinnacle.

Ironic true fact -

I have exactly the same chance of winning the GG that Haas has of winning the WCC.

I'd need just 5 things to pick up one of the cheaper ones. The 1st lottery #, the 2nd lottery #......  :-[

Guess we'll never know, his Indycar record speaks for itself though.
