Title: Pagenaud crash at Mid Ohio
Post by: lkjohnson1950 on July 02, 2023, 08:22:43 AM
Brake failure at the end of the 180+ backstraight caused this crash. He walked away, a graphic demonstration of how much safety is built into a modern racecar.

Sure was a high speed shunt, guess the rolling over and over took some of the momentum out of a hard stop at the barrier.

Wonder which fun park will be looking to build a spinning rolling ride like that.  :D

If I had to pick a single best change in racing during my years as a fan it would definitely be the survivability of the modern race car. They are truly amazing.

That particular corner is the only one I know of in all of racing that is named after its runoff area - China Beach.
