Title: We now know who Horner supports more...
Post by: Scott on July 31, 2017, 04:27:16 PM
I know, it's more complicated than that, but the fact that Horner has chosen to make his opinion on the FIA penalty against Max public, is little more than a slap in the face to DR, who if I was his management, would be shopping him around already for 2019.  Red Bull management is really good at stirring the pot although quite poor at managing their drivers.

Really, why bother saying such a thing to the press unless you want your little golden boy to feel loved, and DR p*ssed off?  There IS no point.  They could have quietly made their opinion known to Charlie or the FIA, but no, Christian needs to put it in print.   |-( |-(

Penalties like this smack of 'reputation'.  The stewards probably were looking for an excuse to lay a smackdown on young Verstappen.

There is a point to be made that the penalties seem wildly arbitrary this season, which makes it tough for the drivers to push it to the limit if the limit keeps changing.  All the same, if you keep bumping into people, you're going to be penalized much more harshly than if you do it once.

That wasn't my point really.  As for warranted penalties, I don't rank MV anything more than a quick Kvyatt when talking about driver errors.  IMO MV should have at least as many points against him as DK.

But my point was simply that Horner has chosen to make this public, and somewhat humiliating to DR.  Most of us think MV was too lightly penalized for punting DR....apparently not Horner.

Maybe the higher-ups at Red Bull think that Max is a better fit with their target market, and sent down what position they wanted the team to take.
