Had this little beastie for the day yesterday (and a quick blast this morning), as a slightly delayed birthday present. A very fun time was had  One funny moment - we went to a posh hotel out in the desert for lunch and a coffee and valet parked. When it came to leaving I gave the valet the ticket and waited in the lobby. After about five minutes he came back and said I can't find the key/car. Can you tell me the plate number? I said, no I can't. No idea. It's a black Lamborghini. To which he goes, oh that one, it's right over here  He'd been looking in the car park but it had been parked right on the turning circle in the fancy pants spot

As F1 now has budget caps which restrict what you can do so why is it the rule book cannot be opened up? Back in the day when there were fewer rules, other than Bernie, you never quite knew what was going to turn up on what car so now with a budget cap how about reduce the rules and give the teams a free hand but staying within the budget. Would it be more competitive, innovative maybe just more interesting? It'll never happen I know but I'm interested in your thoughts!

Methinks it's a known fact brains in the teams can run rings round the ringmasters and it's hardly a suprise that they've found more downforce than anticipated (see paras from The Race below), but why then are there so many complaints about the energy management problems on track from the teams & drivers?  Sure the FIA should do a better job with regs to prevent the baying F1 pack from outsmarting them, but teams also have to realise they are part of a homogeneous system and need to cede ground, or downforce, in pursuit of better racing. If things look difficult now how will it look when teams designers add even more downforce through the season? The FIA's single-seater director Nikolas Tombazis revealed recently that some of the current energy-management issues experienced by drivers were because teams had produced cars that were performing at a higher level than motorsport's governing body anticipated.
Analysis of the early 2026 races has highlighted that the performance of cars through corners is having a big influence on the amount of energy available, because the quicker the cars are through turns the less they can harvest.
Asked by 'The Race' about cars not having enough energy to run as flat-out as some want, Tombazis said: "One of the reasons it hasn't been right there from the start is that cars are going a bit faster [than anticipated]. "They [the teams] have found a bit more downforce than we were expecting, and therefore the energy recovered during braking is a bit lower than it would normally be.

The concern is that with teams having already produced cars that are delivering higher aerodynamic loads than expected, rapid gains over this season and into next year could push things too far.

The upgrade package from Red Bull at Miami may have got most teams in a tiz with Mclaren especially vocal. Stella is concerned they may have pulled a proverbial rabbit from the hat with new sidepod concept. Can't say I noticed very much difference, but Andrea seems to think sidepods are an important area & many others will be examining the subject closely too. I had a busy weekend, I only watched the race, none of the qualifying, none of the sprint. I do like watching the sprints, but as an F1 fan on the go, it feels like homework I can skip.
Heroes Kimi - This kid is good enough, and with a good enough team that he might become THE Kimi when talking about F1. Blasphemy? Yes, but can't argue with the results.
Norris/Piastri/McLaren. They've used the time off/update to right the ship. Maybe not the best of the best, but definitely back to the form they've had the last couple of years.
Williams and Alpine have also managed to step forward
Zeroes
Max had a good qualifying, a bad start, an interesting pit strategy, but fell behind cars that weren't faster than him
LeClerc has to pay attention the entire race. Also doesn't seem to have trust with Ferrari. They need to work on that.
Coverage, they seemed to never show anything happen. It wasn't the most eventful race, but of the 20 or so interesting moments we saw maybe 5 'live'. Even the commentators had to make guesses why drivers were falling down the timing sheet.
Officiating. I'm in the middle of the Stanley Cup Playoffs (ice hockey), and I'm used to the officials making their rulings right away. Watching Miami, and getting a note 10 laps later that something might be looked at eventually... feels like no one cares about fair racing.
Over all it was a decent enough race. I wish I'd gotten 'into' the weekend more, but no regrets spending my time as I did, F1 is great, but other stuff in life is great too. I'm happy for Kimi winning in a non run away. We had several leaders, all of whom could have credibly won the race with the right stroke of luck.
