I found the above link at F1 Fanatic.  The Times has made 200 years of its archive available free online.  Keith lists some of the major F1 stories covered.  Just watching the scrolling menu of the Times archive I noticed thing like the Zulu wars scrolling through.  It doesn't matter what subject interests you there is 200 years of news on the site.
