Title: Williams Delays Driver Announcement
Post by: cosworth151 on December 18, 2017, 12:42:51 PM
Williams says it is prepared to delay the announcement of Felipe Massa's replacement until January.

Massa says that he's out of the loop:

“The path of the team is financial, including Kubica, so it does not surprise me. But I don't know what will happen, I'm not following the team now.

“My thoughts are in other things and what I'm doing from now, and it's not F1 anymore.”

I never really expected Massa to un-retire again, so it is clear they wouldn't keep him in the know.

They appear to be playing games with the drivers managements with the various leaks (though I think the one about Kubica all but signed up came from his own management) to squeeze the best deal out of one of them.

Massa seems a little ungrateful to Williams seeing
they did give him another year in F1.

All F1 careers come to an end, but few have come as close to a championship and not won it as Massa.  If I was him, I'd like to get away from being reminded of not being good enough to be in F1 too.

Trouble is Massa would stay as long as Williams would
let him. If Glock hadn't spun out on one the final turns
on the last lap Massa would have been WDC. I still wonder how
Glock's xmas was that year

Aaaaaand we have a winner! Or maybe winners (https://twitter.com/WilliamsRacing/status/953252741085847553)...

Step up Sergey Sirotkin, new hope to get a better position for Williams than Lance would get on his own.

And he'd better, or else Robert Kubica will be only too pleased to step up from the reserve role he's been given to show the world what we've missed for much of the last decade.
