Title: Ferdinand Piech has Died
Post by: cosworth151 on August 27, 2019, 08:34:42 PM
Ferdinand Piech, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, has died at the age of 82. He helped develop the Porsche 917 & Bugatti Veyron. He also is credited for saving the failing VW company in the 1990's.

He also helped develop the best road car that Porsche never built:  the 916-8. It was an 8 cylinder version of the 916. Only 2 were build & one was his own personal car for several years. The 916 was going to be the replacement for the 914-6. Unfortunately, the 916 could run away & hide from its contemporary 911, so only 11 of them were built.

R.I.P., Herr Piech.
