Title: Preview of No Tire Blankets?
Post by: cosworth151 on April 28, 2023, 04:36:48 PM
Could this be what F1 can expect without tire blankets? The FIA banned tire warmer blankets for the WEC this year. This happened during free practice at Spa today. One AF Course Ferrari exited the pits relatively slowly on cold tires. His team mate ran up on him unsighted in Eau Rouge/Raidillon. Result - 1 Ferrari badly damaged and 1 Ferrari completely written off. Fortunately both drivers are safe.

It really does seem like a false economy.

Just doesn't work with tyres that are supposed to be heated they will have to have a different tyre construction for it to work as they did pre tyre warmers.

Hey Cossie, they don't use tire warmers in IndyCar or IMSA do they? I don't think they do, but I don't really remember. (Lotta that goin' round here lately)
