Title: When do you think will the first MotoGP race be held in India?
Post by: cyberfriend on February 10, 2009, 03:20:50 AM
As you see, the F1 track is coming up in Delhi. It might either be a street race or at a closed circuit in Greater Noida. Only this track can and will be eligible for hosting the MotoGP and talks are going on. Ducati is playing a key role. When do you think the first race will be held?

Probably quite soon, though not on the Delhi track since MotoGP and F1 races are rarely held at the same track in the same year. More likely another Indian state will think "Ooh, that's a nice idea", find someone in the region who is willing to pay for a track and get it ready for MotoGP's use within a couple of years of F1's arrival (or less, if there are more delays to come on the Delhi project).

There are not many moto gp fans in India compared to F1. More importantly there is no Indian involvement yet, however Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki have serious presence in India but sell motorcycles below 250 CC because fuel consumption is a serious issue. IMO it should take atleast 3 more years.
