OK, let's be brutally honest here. How many drivers are there in the world who have the skill to handle 1000 BHP? How many of them can afford a car like this? Isn't Mercedes putting a deadly weapon in the hands of people who are in over their heads?

It's not an F1 car, there will be driver aids.

With that said, if you've got the disposable income to match that price tag, you've got the disposable income to take some high performance racing lessons.  I would expect most people who can handle that much power are people who can afford it.  (Still less than than the number of people actually buying it though)

Check YouTube for dozens of videos of high powered sports cars crashing. Thyere is even one of a guy who crashed a Ferrari during a test drive. If you can affoed it and want it fine, but maybe a couple days at Bondurant or similar school should be mandatory?

Sure there are loads of idiots who can't handle hypercars Lonny. How many of the shunted mega money cars caused injury to other road users? Very few I suggest and even the drivers of the wrecked car usually are not badly injured.

I think we should ban a whole host of cheap small cars that hurtle down our motorways at 75mph, but take 3 times the average to stop, as much more dangerous than these fantasy wonder creations.

Man cannot live by Chevy Beat/Daewoo Matiz or Tata Nano alone.  :D

At that price, the buyers will be old billionaires instead of lottery winners & rock stars. I'd bet that most of them will end up garage/trailer queens occasionally taken out for a Concours d'Elegance or a run up the hill at Goodwood. A sad fate for such a fine car.

Because there's x amount of HP and/or ft/lbs available doesn't mean you have to use it. There's not just an on-off switch as in any throttle control.
Most who buy such exotics rarely, if ever, do anyway. Usually, to be able to afford such, they're a tad more intelligent than to play boy racer....

Those that are going to hurt themselves are going to do so anyway be it 65 HP or a thousand.....a VW Bug or one o'these things (many moons ago an a-hole acquaintance nearly killed us in a stock Bug. 'Rolled from 60ish and nearly hit two trees. I still count my blessings to this day).
