Title: Max and Ocon
Post by: Dare on November 11, 2018, 11:54:37 PM
I wonder why Ocon didn't just beat the crap out of
that punk after he pushed him several times after the
race. I'd have loved to see him push AJ.

I guaranty Max wouldn't try it on AJ more than once!   >:D

There needs to be an age limit for race car drivers, no more immature kids. At least 30 years old would be about right.    ::)

I Guess that gold spoon stuck up Max makes him irritable.

It was all a bit of handbags at 5 paces though really.

Time was when drivers would stride up the pitlane to confront their nemesis, there's even been fisticuffs trackside, still in helmets, on more than one occasion.
Bit of controversy and confrontation keeps the media going.

I note that Max has to do 2 community service days as punishment,
bet that won't be real work though.  ::)

The person getting punished is who ever gets
stuck with Max for 2 days

I have three theories:

1) Esteban thought Max was too pathetic to be worth punching

2) He thought that if he could get a 10-second stop/go for being swiped by a careless driver, returning an assault would lead to immediate loss of his licence

3) He thought that he was too much at risk of knocking out Max, which would have put a crimp on his attempts to convince him of his point of view

Given FIA precedent for the form of such punishments, we will soon find out which politicians, senior dignitaries and FIA officials Jean Todt secretly dislikes... (the public service tends to involve making lots of scripted speeches in front of VIPs about road safety and then having slightly embarrassing photos taken with a principle of safe driving that was broken in the course of "earning" the punishment).

But Max is the safest driver as it's never his fault!   :DD

An aside, he was so angry after not getting pole and having to watch his teammate celebrate a better lap, he could have “damaged someone”.  I suspect if he means DR, it would have been a one punch fight.

Really, his viciousness of his comments on radio and post races are an embarrassment to the sport.  I’m constantly trying to come to grips with why Red Bull (not RBR, I mean Red Bull corporate) still support him.  They have so many endearing and professional world class athletes on contract around the world supporting their marketing efforts, yet the one they appear to spend the most on is represented by the antithesis of a sportsman (woman).  I fortunately haven’t seen his “only a mother could love it” face or heard his squeaky voice in any ads until now, but I imagine that would be a good time to go to the john.

The hatred in his comments is what gets me.
It's not comments made in the heat of battle I
think it's comments from his soul. He's a despicable
human being. His dad must be too the way he has that
half sneer half smile watching his pride of joy.

I want to like Max as he is fast and F1 needs fast drivers in good cars, but I prefer Ricciardo at Red Bull and am saddened to see Red Bull favour Max.  They have picked the wrong horse and it will come back to bite them.  He does not learn his lessons, or if he does he unlearns them after a couple of races.  I worry how long we are going to be stuck with him.  Honestly, at least racers like Palmer and Sirotkin appear like decent individuals even if they are not blisteringly fast.  Max is becoming increasingly self-entitled due to the behaviour of his father and his team.  It won't happen, but I'd love it if Gasly beats him next year.  Even more so I'd love it if a Ricciardo driven Renault beats him.

I agree about Max, just when he seems to finally be getting past his past, he goes back to square one.  He's got the skills to win, he's got the attitude to do what it takes.  He just doesn't have the temperament.  It's true that 'championship' attitude can rub people the wrong way (which previous champions weren't seen as arrogant and even entitled?)

If Max could just suck it up, I could get behind him, but no, he had to close the door on a faster back marker to preserve a 5 second lead?

I remember Schumacher especially was very good at giving back markers racing space when he was cruising to victory.  One race (I can't remember which) he even slowed to allow the cars ahead of him to fight for another lap, if he'd passed on his way to the finish line, they'd have been locked in where they were.  (To be fair, the trailing car was Ralph... who did make the pass on the 'bonus' lap Michael gave them)

Fangio, most of the other title-winning drivers before the mid-1970s (the main exception is Surtees, and even that tended to depend on one's viewpoint), Andretti, Hill, Hakkinen, Button. It's about 50-50 even at that level...

Luke, I think a lot of us would love to see Danny Ric trounce him.
