Title: Because the Chinese Grand Prix is so popular...
Post by: guest3164 on April 16, 2019, 05:40:53 PM
... Liberty Media are in discussions with 6 Chinese cities to host a second race, with the new one being on a street circuit.

Oh here we go again!!!!

Mind you, makes a change from Liberty HQ banging on about a race in Miami/Vegas.    Give them another six months and they will be drawing up a 58 race calendar for 2021.   ::)

Best Regards,
Cal :)

58?  Sounds reasonable.  We could have double headers with events in North Korea and South Korea on the same weekend.

True.

Who knows, if things get closer to 70 races in a season, we could have a race at Mrs Browns corner shop and Mrs Smiths Vegetable stand at the opposite end of the street (3 days apart of course, otherwise, that would be madness).

On a slightly more serious note, here is the 2020 rundown from RaceFans's perspective ...

He says OZ is contracted to open the season, but I believe Yas Marina is also contracted to be last, so that schedule wouldn't work.

Maybe they could get a couple of airport shuttle buses to transport the entire crowd from Shanghai to the new venue.

Well, I suppose they need something to fill the gap if they manage to drop the 4 races that are still due to end their contracts at the end of this year (it was 5 but I think one of them re-signed; I've forgotten which, but it's neither Silverstone nor Mexico).
