I thought this forum would be jumping on a GP weekend - not during the race maybe (apart from the chat freaks) but certainly afterwards. But.... Nothing.
Where did everyone go? Am I the only one with thoughts on the race and opinions to share (you lucky people)? Does no-one else feel the need to hear what others think? I know you're not all Ferrari supporters and suffering from hangovers after the post-race celebrations. What other excuses can there be?

Problem with chat during the race for me is that my computer and the TV live in different rooms. Yes, I know I should get another TV... :secret:

I'm usually so engulfed in watching that I hardly have time for anything else.
Also Dare, at my sort of age mastering a keyboard for the elementary things is pretty good. Stepping up to chat etc is a big step.
But I'll try and get in on the chat some time.

Aah, yes Chamelion, you need to set up another tv by your pc, done one on Sunday for the 1st time, it's great, don't know where you were on Sunday but there was a few of us on here. I had a break for dinner and a bit of gardening but came back on and there was Neil, Dare , Rom and Wiz, f1box was there but silent.

I looked in after the race but no-one had posted anything. I need another PC if I going to get involved in a chat as mine is logged into live timing. I have enough trouble watching the timing and the TV coverage without further distractions.
Maybe worth setting up a chat session after the race.

Yeah, if I had a TV by the computer, I'd be watching live timing as well as the race - which wouldn't leave much time for chat. Dunno about the rest of you but, when typing, I have to look at the keyboard (I'm fast but don't trust my fingers). Don't fancy missing a pivotal moment in the race because I was typing at the time...
I'm for that idea of chat after the race.

Chatting during the race is the only way I can join in....as the races in europe and the americas are on rather late in Australia, I am crazy enough to sit up and watch the live timing, however to chat afterwards would be ridiculous (for me), as I would only have a couple of hours sleep before work....it's actually quite easy to watch live timing, the race and the chat........on sunday night I was doing all 3 plus holding 3 other chat sessions and surfing a few web pages......
I think you guys don't give yourselves enough credit....
anyways, that's my thoughts on the chat thing, but I guess majority rules......after all....it's a democracy

I actually started in this internet communication thing through chat (well, after email, that is) and I still venture out into those wilds occasionally (Yahoo chat, of course - nothing but the wildest for me!). In fact, chat is the reason I'm in the States now - I married an American lady I met in chat...
So I'm a chat freak from way back and it's forums that are new to me (sorta like chatting through syrup - long response times ;) ) - the Pit Lane was my first ever forum. But I have found that forums are better in many ways - there is more time to say exactly what you mean, trolls are rare and soon dealt with, and the porn bots don't seem to know how to get in.
Which is all to say that I'm happy to chat, would feel quite at home in it, but not during the races - some things are more important than chat! And the important thing for me remains the forum; it's the reason I'm here.

Great ! That you met someone genuine and had the foresight to marry her. In India we normally get the European races between 5 to 8 Pm on Sunday. Not a very good time as the social calender requires attention a bit. I do manage to catch most of the races. Star Sports beams it here and its commentary team is no great shakes. Steven Slater and Chris Goodwin. Don't know if you have heard of these guys.
By & Large its boring. I liked Murray Walker and Martin Brundle but James took over and so did star alliance with fox ended.
Guess these guys are Star's team. We occassionally have Narain Karthikeyan chipping in.

We used to get a choice of Eurosport and the Italian station RAI but unfortunately Eurosport have given up F1 coverage - too expensive.
The Italian coverage is good but the commentators in the main are too biased. Luckily they also have people like Jean Alesi, Ivan Capelli, Cesare Fiorio, Girogio Piola and one or two others that know what they're talking about.

Before I grabbed another portable tv I had to do what f1box done, Now I can watch the race and chat, think it's brilliant, even tho' there are a few spelling mistakes, but who cares. It's got my vote, sorry for Rom yho'.

Alesi and Capelli announce

Alesi does a bit in the studio before and after the races, as does Cesare Fiorio, but Capelli does a running commentary during the race. He is constantly correcting the RAI commentator who frankly is a bloody pain.
It's great to have people like Capelli and Giorgio Piola. They are so knowledgeable. it's a pleasure to listen to them.
