good article Mark thanks

i could not help noticing this paragraph:

"However, Hamilton put in a late charge to post a 1:24.357, giving him the overall fastest lap. Unfortunately for the McLaren driver, those quick laps may have been what eventually caused his tyre to blow on lap 65."

when is lewis going to realise 'tyre management' is the name of the game in 2010?

take the performance too early out of your tyres and you end up paying the price at the end of your stint by having them 'go off' sooner - in lewis's case by a tyre 'blowout'

surely this is elementary or is lewis short of a few brain cells - the points for second he has lost in Spain may come to haunt him at the year's end   :'(

Following a post-race interview by the BBC with Whitmarsh, it appeared that he wasn't sure whether the blow-out was due to tyre wear, or if something had got into the rim, eg. track debris?  ....You may be right about Hammy's bad tyre management strategy sennaman, but I suppose we shall have to give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being!!! :DntKnw: :DntKnw: :good: once

I watched the replay a few times and I think it was a rim failure, not the tire.

Agree, rim failed by the looks of it. I think Lewis is actually getting the hang of the tyres now, he was just unlucky yesterday. Another good drive from him though, very good.

Incidentally I was going to a joke about rim failure but was unsure as to whether this would mean I'd be Kimi'd and sent to play in the muck?!

Lewis also stopped poor old Mark from getting another mention in the history books, a 'Grand Chelem' - lead entire race from pole and scored fastest lap.  :'(

More importantly Lewis' sudden burst lost me a point in the GG, you can easily go off people can't you. ;) :D :DD

I believe Macca is now saying it was some sort of hub failure. Lewis is turning into Kimi: capable of very quick laps, but unable to string enough of them together to produce a win.

Both drivers certainly seem to have bad luck driving for McLaren (aside from Hamilton's slightly lucky WC win) and should have more title's to their names.  Still, it is exciting to watch both of them when they're on form.
