Title: Ferrari changing tack over F1 budget cap, Liberty & FIA push on
Post by: John S on January 21, 2019, 11:31:19 PM
To force through regulatory changes without concensus 30th June this year is magic date for FIA, not much time for Merc, RBR & Macca to press their case to keep massive budgets.

Talk of glidepath over several years, but morale in teams must take a hit as indications of job cuts materialise.  >:(

"The scuderia has previously threatened to leave F1 if it does not approve of the intended shape of the sport beyond 2020."

Hasn't every team threatened to leave the sport for one reason or another?? ... I still recall RBR's "drama" even before the Renault/Honda friction.  Money, Competitiveness and Supremacy ... just a normal day in the F1 circles.

Best Regards,
Cal :)

If you read through the piece on racefans.net, I've highlighted a sentence below, you'll see the new boy Binotto's stance is not the same as before. This seems a sea change in Maranello's position to previous.

"However Binotto was “almost apologetic for some of the things that went down in the past” last week and displayed none of the resistance to regulatory and commercial changes shown by his predecessors, according to our source, speaking on condition of anonymity."

Yes indeed John!

A word you rarely hear from the Ferrari camp is "apologetic".  Maybe the future will be brighter at Ferrari??

Maybe one day, when all the top seems sort out the politics/money ... we can get back to hard competitive racing!!

Best Regards,
Cal :)
