Here's one for my fellow greying Yanks.
Fifty years ago today, 27 June 1966, Dark Shadows premiered on ABC-TV. It faltered at first. Then, in episode 211, it introduced vampire Barnabas Collins. It became the show everybody had to rush home from school to watch. Later, werewolf Quentin Collins joined the cast. It ran for 1245 episodes.
A few years ago, it became a really, really terrible Johnny Depp movie.
