Title: Another explanation for Ferrari's smokey engine fire ups?
Post by: John S on May 25, 2018, 11:12:45 AM
Ferrari claims that this smoke on start up is just a consequence of oil leakage through the seals when the turbocharger unit is cold, as the turbo heats up the seals lock tight and leaked oil burns off.

This has lead others notably Merc to suggest this oil burn is not accidental, the FIA has not ruled against it - yet.

However is there another explanation for this billowing smoke, could Ferrari be taking an even bigger leap than anyone has previously suggested with a 2 stroke/4 stroke ICU?   :swoon:

The well known engine management systems specialist Ricardo has been pursuing 2 stroke/4 stroke knowledge in the last few years.
