Qualifying in Austin is likely to be wet, but the race is forecast to be dry. Given that the cars are in parc ferme in between, do you use a wet set up and try to qualify up front; a dry set up and hope you can pass those who might out qualify you; or try for some sort of compromise at being acceptable in both conditions but not ideal in either?

I feel the big 3 teams are so fast they can compromise their qualifying pace and still lock out most of the front 3 rows ahead of the race. Normally though you'd have to consider Sunday's pace as I think passing is possible in Austin?

I'd say it's where the drivers, well the good ones, come into their own.
Set up the car for dry conditions and let them take their best shot, we'll see who are the masters of the art come Quali. ;)

These days, teams take a dry setup, unless qualifying is forecast to be very wet and the track has very low overtaking opportunities (e.g. had it rained in Monaco or Spain, some concession to the rain might have occurred).
